Night Guards

Excessive biting force can cause problems for both your teeth and the joint where the lower jaw hinges to your skull – the temporomandibular joint, or TMJ. This force can be the result of a number of problems, including clenching and grinding (or bruxing) the teeth.

Often, patients are unaware that they have a problem with clenching or grinding since these can occur during their sleep. They do, however, notice the associated symptoms, which can include worn or eroded teeth, loose or wiggly teeth, and even chips and cracks. Additionally, discomfort is frequently an issue, especially with chewing, along with limited movement.

Visit our office for a diagnosis, and if clenching, grinding, or TMJ disorder is the problem, we can create a customized occlusal splint to be worn at night that will protect your teeth and minimize the stress on the joint to improve your quality of life.
