Are you completely satisfied with the appearance of your smile? A great smile makes an important first impression and allows you to feel confident in social and business settings. Fortunately, modern technology has brought us all sorts of cosmetic dental treatments that can correct the appearance of imperfections in your smile.
Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic dental treatment that can improve the look of your smile quite dramatically. Veneers can be used to:
- Close gaps between teeth
- Correct the appearance of chipped or severely stained teeth
- Lengthen or reshape teeth
- Disguise misaligned teeth
- Whiten a patient's smile
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Veneers are ultra-thin shells of porcelain bonded directly to the surface of your teeth to correct cosmetic imperfections and enhance your smile. Our professional team knows that placing veneers is much more than just a cosmetic dental procedure. There is a certain artistry involved in creating beautiful veneers that are natural-looking and durable.
Dr. Matar has extensive experience in crafting and placing porcelain veneers so you can be confident that the result will be a stunning, perfect smile. He works closely with our associate, Dr. Wilkins, a board-certified prosthodontist who has extensive experience in cosmetic dental procedures, including placing porcelain veneers.
Our veneers are:
- Carefully color-matched to blend naturally with your teeth
- Crafted and shaped to enhance your smile and your overall appearance
- Sized to give you a smile that is natural and well-proportioned
Some porcelain veneers require minor reshaping of your natural teeth and others do not. There are advantages to both types and, based on your needs, we will help you choose which is best for you.
How Are Porcelain Veneers Placed?
In most cases, porcelain veneers can be placed in two visits. Depending on the type of veneers we choose, your first visit may include reshaping of the tooth if necessary. We then take impressions of your teeth and choose an appropriate shade for your new veneers that will look completely natural and complement your smile.
When you arrive for your second visit, we cleanse the tooth with a special solution to ensure a durable bond with your new veneers. Once the veneers are bonded to your teeth, we polish them so that they blend beautifully with your natural teeth.
How Long Will My Veneers Last?
Veneers are a permanent restoration, but, like most dental restorations, will need to be replaced occasionally. With proper care and regular dental visits, your new porcelain veneers will have you smiling confidently for several years before replacement becomes necessary.
